Riva cards "sparkle" at 32bpp.  No known fix.

S3VirGE cards are cheap and well-supported by XFree86.

... seconded.  Make sure that the video card matches the motherboard, if
you're getting a super7 board.  I've had poor luck with the ASUS P5A board
-- didn't like my Matrox or either of my S3 cards.
