Yes :-)

Seriously, though, I run Xemacs on a Pentium 100 with 48 meg and find
the performance quite acceptable.

Memory.  32 meg isn't raelly enough.  Going from 32 to 16 made a
noticeable difference on my machine.  64 makes an even greater one.  Of
course, my machine at work has 256 meg and doesn't even know the meaning
of "swap file" :-)
