It's missing a symbolic link - /lib/cpp needs to be a symlink ot
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i[34]86-{pc,redhat}-linux[-gnu]/{egcs,gcc}-[version]/cpp

hope you can parse that :) ... on TL 3.x it would be:

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-pc-linux-gnu/egcs-2.91.57/cpp

if you've installed my egcs-1.1.1 update package, it's 2.91.60.  On RH,
it'd be /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/?????/cpp

(I'm not sure about that ????? part...)

what distro are you using, anyway?
