JB> If I want to move Lilo to the MBR (that is, get rid JB> of the PM boot record), how . . . ? Just picked up the digest so y'all excuse me in advance if I reply to a question that has already been answered in great detail. JB, just did the reverse procedure (sucessfully), actually, for work-related reasons, so . . . Inside of Windows, run Dos. At the prompt >\ fdisk \mbr This will install a generic Dos/Windows MBR, erasing BM from your MBR. Then reboot your machine using your Linux boot floppy (you do, er, have a Linux boot floppy?) and try # /sbin/liloconfig Assuming that the appropriate files are in your machine. You might want to try before the dos "fdisk \mbr", a Linux find / -name "lilo" print just to check. Oterwise, if the stuff is not in /etc/lilo then I have no clue as to how to proceed. JB> on my last day (Tuesday) Not following the news/gossip. but good luck with whatever the new venture is.
