Ever want to use those funky Windows and Menu keys in X? Here's how to do it (in TurboLinux, at least): 1. Run turboxcfg, select 'keyboard config', select '104 key keyboard' (I'm not sure if the 106 key layout will enable these keys on jp keyboards or not. It *should*....). Save changes. (for people without turboxcfg, make sure you have 'XkbModel "pc104"' in the Keyboard section of XF86Config)... 2. Now edit your .steprc file (this should be similar in other window managers). You can use the 'Menu' keyword as a key. eg, in Afterstep, bind the menu key like this: Key Menu A N Popup "Desktop Menu" (this will work in a standard TL .steprc file, at least). 3. Now start X. Your two 'Windows' keys function like 'Meta' - use them in Emacs, for example. Your menu key will bring up the main dropdown menu. -------------------------------------------------- Scott M.
