How big is this machine?  What floor are you on?  I suggest immediate
defenestration as the best solution in this case.

Seriously, though, is the drive in LBA mode?  Is it on the primary IDE
chain?  If both of these are 'yes', you may have One Of Those Machines On
Which Lilo Simply Refuses To Work, or OOTMOWLSRTW, for short.  In which
case, use the sysboot disk (instructions for making/using are in the TL
user's guide).

why would you have to rebuild the kernel for network support?  It's
Pcmcia, right?
