SJIS ~= Microsoft. Unix =~ EUC. Corollary - SJIS is evil, EUC is good. Plus, EUC is 8-bit clean and is easier to work with, IMHO. Most mail transport uses 7-bit JIS, to my knowledge. If I'm wrong on this, and I may be, please someone correct me. (right, like you won't - I'm really putting this sentence here because it'll make people less likely to flame me if I *am* wrong :) ). Anyway, i believe that the 'nkf' program will convert files/documents between the different encoding formats. If you don't have it, I think you can use the TurboLinux-J RPM in a Redhat system. > > Eric S.
