But Debian 1.3.1 Actually, you can have big problems because of the modules, as Scott mentions. ida> & Redhat 4.1 are not similar. Libraries are different. So ida> there might be problem. Kernels don't (dynamically) link in the libraries. They can't: libraries can't be found until there's a file system to index them with, and file systems are part of the kernel. Modules theoretically could, but they don't. So as long as you bring the _whole_ kernel, modules and all, across, _and_ you have no software which is dependent on a different kernel version (eg, file system tools), you're OK. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +1 (298) 53-5091 -------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 17 July, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Meeting: 8 August, Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate 12:30 featuring Linux on multiple platforms: i386, Sparc, PA-Risc, Amiga, SGI, Alpha, PalmPilot, ... -------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
