One thing I forgot to mention in my talk yesterday: adding 'p' to an RPM query commandline as a flag will let you query uninstalled packages (ie, from an .i386.rpm file).. like this: rpm -qi sendmail (queries installed version of sendmail) rpm -qip sendmail-8.9.0-2TL.i386.rpm (queries that file) or, also useful: rpm -qp --requires packagefilename rpm -qp --provides packagefilename AND, one more thing I forgot: rpm -q --whatprovides libc.so.6 (shows what package provides libc.so.6 - substitute any dependency there) rpm -q --whatrequires libc.so.6 (shows what package requires libc.so.6....) You can't use --whatprovides and --whatrequires with the -p option explained above. -------------------------------------------------- Scott M.
