Don't know about the 770, but QVplay 0.92 can read from the QV-10,
QV100, and QV300 series.  See

Still beta and a little flakey, but it seems to basically work (I sucked
in some jpegs from my QV100 over the weekend).  

On a related note: the serial protocol looks pretty simple.  I'm tempted
to cobble together a perl module for QV interaction.  Anybody know
what modules I should consider for doing tty I/O with perl?  Haven't
spent much time at CPAN in the last year or so ....
