FROM THE OFFICE OF YMH CAL LABORATORY:TOKYO Date: Thu, 02 Apr 1998 14:05:51 +0900 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii X-Mailer: VisualMail Version 1.0 Hi all, One of my friends is at Trinity, Oxford. His environment is Unix based. No Japanese at all.OS is solaris and BSD. He wants to use Unix to read Japanese mails sent from Japan. Is my suggestion as follows correct? 1. download a. kterm b. canna(both server and client) c. mule 2. make them. 3. write .emacs set .Xresources for Japanse Fonts. 4. If xlsfonts doesn't have any luck, download basic Japanese fonts and put them into proper directory or any directory and write so in .Xresources. 5. Try the above. Does the process have a good sign or bad sign? 6. BTW, he doesn't use unix so much. So the administrator must do the above job. If our ML has a Trinity fellow, things would get much easier. Waiting for some good advice and I am giving you thanks in advance. Thank you very much. Yong-Ming P.S. When I see things I have done to this ML, they have been just 'help mails'. It is bad. I must contribute to some extent. And also my help mails have been so damn simple ones. mmmmmmm. _____________________________________________________ _/_/_/_/FROM THE OFFICE OF YONG-MING HUA(YMH CAL LABORATORY)_/_/_/_/ _/e-mail: yhua@example.com, yhua@example.com _/ _/Office Tel:(Jpn)(0)427-39-8132 Fax:(Jpn)(0)427-39-8845 _/ _/A Word from YMH CAL LAB: Help those with Terminal Illness _/ _/ http://www.kelvin.lit.tamagawa.ac.jp _/ _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/Home Tel & Fax:(Jpn)(0)3-3485-0171 /_/_/_/_/_/_/ --------------------------------------------------------------- Next TLUG Meeting: 11 April Sat, Tokyo Station Yaesu gate 12:30 Featuring Tague Griffith of Netscape i18n talking on source code --------------------------------------------------------------- a word from the sponsor: TWICS - Japan's First Public-Access Internet System www.twics.com info@example.com Tel:03-3351-5977 Fax:03-3353-6096
