I'm the guy in question here... I'm looking into 'hdparm -u 1' and irqtune
- I'll report my findings.

Jonathan - if I do get this to work, I'll be happy to write a document for
3Web for Linux support.  Then they can bundle it with the Mac and Windows
stuff when the packets get sent out.
