I suppose pgcc is buggy, but XEmacs-20.3-b27 does compile with
pgcc-970924. I've got Email from another beta-tester confirming this
after I posted my success.

There was another worrying thing as I was not able to compile a
certain file on the system here at the lab but could on the PC I have
at home. The other beta-tester also confirmed that he was able to
compile all files.

PGCC isn't perfect yet but the benchmarks were pretty promising.
(The last sentence worries me because I think I've just stepped on a
trapdoor called "benchmark".)

Yes, but what I want to know is what exactly is going wrong. What's
more worrying is that I get exactly the same problem with a totally
bo(libc5.4.33) system. I'm hoping that people will be able to upgrade
to debian-2.0 and not have to do complete reinstalls.

I do. Actually even the kernel is compiled with pgcc-970924. So every
keystroke is a gamble (talk about thin ice).

Your right. I'll better chose my words better next time.

We--ll I don't now about that... I'll just keep it as "just a good
hack" level. If I solve it that is... :)
