Hi, I am using "standard" Pine 3.91, too, right off the Slackware CDROM (Infomagic 4/96). To get the "ISO-2022-JP" header to display when I have Japanese in the text I changed the following line in .pinerc: # Reflects capabilities of the display you have. Default: US-ASCII. # Typical alternatives include ISO-8859-x, (x is a number between 1 and 9). character-set=iso-2022-jp As I mentioned earlier, even with this setting, the US-ASCII header is still displayed when there's no Japanese text. And BTW, thanks for letting me know all my earlier text was in New-JIS. I'm glad to hear that.
