[tlug] Mint in VWware, menu items not clickable

Good evening from Hayama.
I hope everybody is safe during these rather unsafe days.

Probably a (actually 2, but I put the other one in a different post) 
stupid question.
I installed Mint 19.2 in VWware Workstation Player running on a Windows 
10 machine.
Installation went fine and on first view the screen looks good too.
However, when I click on "Menu" and the menu screen opens, the items can 
be activated/started with the Enter-key,
but NOT by clicking on them.
With the enter key items open normally.

Is there a trick to make the menu "clickable"?
I have never experienced this kind of behavior OUTSIDE VMware.
