Any recommendations for a particular utility?
Get something Debian specific, doesn't it have normal tescue or install media?
I have used SysRescueCD for the last 15+ years, but it is Gentoo (still) based, so I am biased.

May be some update or careless editor messed up with grub.conf or /etc/fstab?
Just boot off sonething, fsck, mount and see what is wrong.

Thats the plan, find something Debian-specific and boot to find error.

Thanks
