I know the "Settings" in Linux Mint. Is there a separate KDE Configuration menu?
If so, how can I access this?
In the normal "Settings" there is "Locale" (17.3) or "Language" (18.3) Menu item. Non of these has a possibility to set an Input Method. It is only for languages.
In both LM versions there is additionally "Input Devices" menu. Concerning languages I can only select the keyboard and a special layout. No chance to set an input method. (Keyboard are correctly indentified including the Zenkaku-Hankaku key).

I also add the Input Method widget to the dock (or whatever it is called).
Then I log out and back in once or twice. But once it is working, it is solid.
I wanted to try both Anthy and Mozc in KDE, but never got ibus working and gave up. That was what I used before I stopped using gnome.

fcitx in KDE. I never looked at this but will try.
I tried fcitx in Xfce but failed.
With what do you combine fcitx: Anthy or Mozc?
Until now I always use IBUS-Anthy because it was only a few clicks.
Thanks for your reply!

This is what currently works for me:
Distro: Fedora 29, KDE spin
Install software:
sudo dnf install fcitx fcitx-kkc fcitx-skk kcm-fcitx
Fix start link (maybe don't have to do this anymore):
mkdir -p ~/.config/autostart ; cp /usr/share/applications/fcitx.desktop ~/.config/autostart/fcitx.desktop
Add the following to ~/.bashrc or similar:
export QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx
export XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx
export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx
Run the fcitx setup from within KDE. Usually I have to log out and back in once or twice until it works. I've not got around to looking into why.
I never did get ibus to work.

Japanese keyboard. All keys are correct. Just no conversion to hiragana.
Neither IBUS-Anthy nor IBUS-mozc will change to Japanese writing.
In LM 17.3 KDE 64 bit IBUS-anthy is working perfect.
In LM19.1 Cinnamon 64bit IBUS-mozc is working.
Does someone has experience with this way of Japanese writing? If so, I am prepared to exchange settings and all what is needed.
