Most of the time, the following is works for me (Xorg);

```
export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim
```

In my case, it's in `~/.xinitrc`. Not sure where you should put it.

And I'm not sure what you should do if you're using Wayland (eg. not 
Xorg)
