It's a ThinkCentre m92p 2121-D6U (a little 'ways down the sheet):

Those are very nice machines. And a real steal for only 8 USD, Wow!

Lenovo sell those second hand (probably refurbished) via Amazon marketplace around 20.000 JPY ...

Otherwise, they go for around 15.000 ~ 18.000 JPY second hand. Without PSU the market value isĀ  probably around 10.000 ~ 15.000 JPY.

Glad you didn't fry it, that would have been a real shame.

Definitely something I will do down the pike when I have time and a
little extra money to put into it. I'm thinking it might make a very
nice little firewall or something.

This also makes a very nice desktop as long as you have sufficient RAM. For a firewall you probably want something fanless.

I have a much older ThinkCentre M55 (Pentium D dual core @3.GHz) and I am running Kubuntu 18 on it. It only had 1 GB of RAM, with that it was sluggish, but after a memory upgrade to 4GB its running very nicely, including playing (streamed) movies at 1920x1080 (HDTV).

In any event I would recommend you get the original power supply for this machine, its a "whopping" 4000 JPY (second hand) ...

... but considering that you only paid 8 USD for the box, the accumulated total would still be a bargain for this machine.
