Yes ... Yes, I ... do (to quote Phineas and Ferb).  I completely forgot 
about monkeying with the skype.desktop file although I have hammered on 
it with a big rock in the past (before M$ "improved" it and forced 
everyone to use PulseAudio).

I had to sign in again but, after that, everything worked fine.
