Hello, I few weeks ago I bought this interesting device with the idea to try to put standard linux (=Gentoo for me) on it. After quick disassembly and check, I luckily discovered solderpads for serial console... then I left it in my drawer and completely forgot about it. http://www.iodata.jp/product/pccard/readerwriter/wfs-sr01/ Today I pulled it out and quick nmap scan showed telent open. Sure enough I logged in with admin/pass (same for http as shown in the manual). And guess what: BusyBox v1.12.1 (2012-04-26 15:28:18 PHT) built-in shell (ash) $ uname -a Linux WFS-SR-1 2.6.21 #256 Thu Apr 25 09:35:37 CST 2013 mips unknown $ cat /etc/versioninfo rootfs=446 exfat/texfat=446 ioos/ioos=4471 one-ssid-pswd=446 web/web=985 uboot=5350/bootloader-mt5350-32M-2013-04-25-09-25.img kernel=5350/kernel-rt5350-32M-2013-04-25-09-31 So, it does run linux already :-) Now what are my chances to get IO-Data to give me the source of the firmware? Has anyone dealt with them before? I couldn't see any mention of GPL or Linux on their documentation, but I found a few other products they offer CD with source code for the cost of shipping. Kalin.
