The noise could well be present in the source itself.  Try using a pair
of headphones plugged in directly to the tower and see if you can still
hear the noise.  If so, changing the source -- a sound card, usb sound
adapter or using usb-connected speakers would help more than trying to
filter noise from the on-board output.
