Re: [tlug] The wrong kanji has returned

1. Switch to Chrome, at least for kanji study. ;-)
2. Somewhere on your system is a font configuration file, possibly
/etc/fonts.conf or /etc/fonts/fonts.conf. In it, or in one or more
include files, there are a couple of long lists of fonts that look
like the excerpt below. Try moving all the Japanese ones up, and
all the Chinese and Korean ones down.
NOTE: You will very likely lose this customization when you upgrade
Ubuntu, and perhaps any time you (un)install fonts, etc. There's
probably a way to do this in a file that is protected for local
customizations, but I don't know the syntax offhand, and you'll
have to tell me where Ubuntu puts it.
3. Get the minutes of the Han Unification Committee of ISO
10646/Unicode, and learn to unify kanji by eye. ;-)
4. Run Firefox under strace, find the illicit font files it is using,
and terminate them with extreme prejudice. :-) (I hear Arnold S
   needs a new job....)

1 and 3 are practical suggestions, expressed a bit humorously (well,
IMSBO), but outside of the scope of what you seem to be asking for. 4
is a practical suggestion, but if you haven't used strace before, you
may find it a learning experience (which has the alternative spelling
E X E R C I S E SPC I N SPC F R U S T R A T I O N). 2 is
straightforward, easy to experiment with, and safe (as long as you
back up the file first).
