Well, even the Ubuntu Linux Bible suggests using wicd instead of network manager (*). After my personal experience, and reading other people's, I am beginning to see why. Using chattr to make files immutable seems more likely to make it harder to follow advice on forums. E.g. Expert: run this command, and it should reset /etc/hosts, then everything else should just work. User: nope, no change Expert: <scratches head> User: oh, I forgot, I used chattr on that file 6 months ago, would that matter? Darren *: Though, in the context of wireless cards. The author thinks either is fine for wired connections. -- Darren Cook, Software Researcher/Developer http://dcook.org/gobet/ (Shodan Go Bet - who will win?) http://dcook.org/work/ (About me and my work) http://dcook.org/blogs.html (My blogs and articles)
