Probably just "dhclient" will do the trick, though.

If that doesn't work, ifconfig, route, and "echo nameserver 1.2.3.4 >
/etc/resolv.conf" are your friends.  Yes, pretty quickly you want to
automate, but IMHO everybody should know how to get one route up on a
Unix box by hand.  You might also consider learning how to DENY all
incoming connections with iptables, but that's about all you need to
know to get a box that allows Googling on the 'net.
