Romeo, Thank you for your continued help and advice.Long story short - the Apache server was set up to be configured through a web interface called WebHost panel. Which means that it didn't like modules being added by hand. I guess my edits conflicted with some of the markers in the file that designated automatically generated text, or something like that.So the good news is that I was able rebuild Apache with the desired modules using the interface (not at all intuitive, but there it is), and then after that my configuration settings took hold.Thanks for all your help, and to TLUG in general for being so supportive. -- Dave M G
