Swap? I installed netbook Ubuntu and it never asked for any swap
settings. Right now it's really slow, unusably so and it might very
well have to do with swap as the disk is constantly spinning. I was
able to get a terminal up and see that the load average was 5 while
the CPU usage was about 5% ...

Unfortunately I stopped the update manager half-way through and seem
to have ruined my installation.
