Meaning your application crashed, then soon after you stopped tcpdump?
If so, how about "tail --bytes=1000000000" to get just the last 1GB and
analyze that?
(Sorry I'm not familiar with tcpdump output; you might need to prepend a
header, and/or tidyup the cutoff point.)
