I just signed up for NTT/OCN Hikari internet, and need to find myself a
router. I thought I'd double check / get some opinions rather than going
with the one they offered me (a Buffalo Airstation WZR-HP-G300NH for
10800 yen).
It looks like the connection is by Ethernet from the provider into the
router, is that right? If there are any different standards between
providers then I'd welcome any warnings.
Am after something with a wifi AP and 4 or so ethernet connections for
client machines, does DHCP, NAT, the usual. Something that does UPnP,
static NAT mappings and static DHCP reservations would be good. An
English language admin interface option would be a major bonus too..
Other bonus options would be the ability to connect from the outside
world and wake-on-lan my PC, and hardware that can run OpenWRT.
Thanks for any suggestions, "I have an xyz and it works fine" are welcomed.
