My advice would be to get permission from someone with more authority
then your IT support department (i.e. someone who can say yes without
asking) and sell it to them as a cost cutting measure ;) That way your
worst case will be indignation and lack of support from IT department,
but if you are in that sort of company you are probably already getting
that ;)
