TLUG,
I have a friend who owns a Macbook 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
She dual boots to Mac OS and Windows OS using "Boot Camp", which I know
next to nothing about.
She's expressed interest in checking out Linux on her computer, but
doesn't want to give up either Windows or Mac OS because of various
applications she runs in both.
Her hard drive has enough space for it, so my intention is to install
Ubuntu in there as a third option with "Boot Camp".
This means repartitioning her drive. I believe her Windows partition is
expendable in the sense that I can probably delete it and recreate it
again with a smaller size, and then put Linux in the remaining space.
Bottom line is that I have never installed Linux into a Mac before. I
was going to try before on a friend who had an older Mac, but didn't get
the chance.
My understanding is that newer Macs like this one are easier because of
their Intel processor.
But I'm here to check if anyone else has installed Linux on a Mac and if
they have any tips or warnings.
