In the unlikely event that you lot don't all ready Slashdot, Google
have released an Android phone which isn't carrier-locked:

You can also install other unsigned images on it, which means that
it's just a Linux box with a phone attached - though it might be a
while before anyone's putting Debian together for it.

Also available in Japan, but it's not possible to see how much they'd
charge you for shipping without paying them $25 first.

I'm vaguely tempted, in that 'ooh, shiny' sort of a way...
