Sure it is. But if you disregard that work is done by people
and you have to keep them motivated (ie don't tell them that
they are replacable).

If someone does what we call here "job protection" then he
should be fired as soon as possible. But i'm not talking about
those. What i mean is that in every SMB and even in the working
groups of big companies you have certain key people who hold
everything together, or have special knowledge. Although they
don't refuse to teach others in their skill, usualy noone has
the time to learn it to the extend to be able to replace them.
Hence, if one of these key people leave there is a large drop
of overall knowledge/experiance in the company/group.
The world is just not perfect....
