As it is related to the thread topic, I thought I would tell you all the story of how I came to work in Tokyo.
On July 11th 2006 I was sitting in Northern Ireland thinking that I was happy with my work situation, so I didn't need to be subscribed to all the job opportunity mailing lists. So I decided to unsubscribe. When I reached the "Linux Tokyo" list, I accidentally hit "search", and one job opportunity appeared.
That job description was 5 words: "Linux Perl Tokyo Geeks welcome!" That sounded good for me.
In my previous experience I had discovered that 96% of all recruitment agents were idiots; I wanted to check this guy was not. So I phoned him, mentioned the advert, complimented him on his ability to spell "Perl", and asked "What do you think a geek is?" He was able to answer my question in coherent english, so I said I would like to apply, but I did not have a CV. He then sent me an example CV and told me to make something similar, which I did.
Then I had a bunch of telephone interviews with my employer, and got the job.
And we currently have a similar job opportunity, so: "Linux Perl Tokyo Geeks welcome!".
