I just would like to share opinions and points of view from the people in the list about how to make a good IT resume.
I'm not good at writing a résumé or CV, but I still have some tips. The most important one is to write a new CV for each job you are interested in. That also means you should, IMO, avoid sending CVs to recruitment companies without a specific job in mind. Stupid keyword matching and stupider agents will only waste your time. Instead, join some job opportunity mailing lists and apply for the jobs your are interested in.
Of course, even then you will probably still need to deal with a stupid recruitment agent who can't spell "Linux", but then you have a chance to evaluate them. Before applying, phone them if you can. If that would be awkward, ask them questions via email. Try to work out if they are competent enough to be your agent. If they pass, ask them to help write your CV. They get paid if you get the job, so they might as well work for the money.
