I need it only need to view other people's files.

I also use Beamer for all my presentations and I love the way it
works. I've tried to persuade some people at my lab to start using it,
but with no success.

Keith, thanks for your suggestion. That's also the solution I came up
this afternoon, but forgot to post it here. I consider this issue
solved for the time being and appreciate all your help.
