I know for Docomo that sending Japanese in UTF-8 doesn't display (you'd think Docomo would convert at their gateway, given the information is in the mail headers). It has to be ISO-2022-JP. Vodafone (*) is the same. So I guess KDDI will be too. Darren *: And presumably Softbank. Incidentally, I've heard Softbank handling of zenkaku/hankaku katakana is different to Vodafone, but haven't tested this personally.
