Not to me.
I think Dave would have noticed if one of his two boxen had no IP. No IP means no web browsing, no streaming video... and remember how he was talking about all that working?
Keith's guess is almost certainly right. Dave will have to turn on Samba or FTP or SSH before he can connect to any of them.
