Folks expect a *lot* of handholding here.  I remember the first time I
visited a Japanese gas station, and six young people in brightly
colored clothes attacked our car.  It took a few seconds to realize
that full service really meant 6 people to wipe the windows and pump
the gas, and that it wasn't just a Chinese fire drill.
