Actually, I'd say that taking the time to write down some of my experience with RAID systems and clustering is probably worth a lot more (at least to certain members of this group) than 500 yen.
But if TLUG folks feel it's worthwhile, I'll be happy give a thousand yen to TLUG next time I run into someone willing to accept it on TLUG's behalf.
Interestingly enough, though, since we've just had this discussion on clustering and research at Google, I woke up this morning to find an unsolicited (but welcome) message in my Inbox from a recruiter at Google:
I was doing some research on netbsd and clusters when I came across some of your postings. I wanted to reach out to you to see if you would be open to career opportunities with Google. We currently have positions available at Google that may be a good match for you.
Needless to say, I'm pretty chuffed, though I'm not in a position to take them up on this right now.

You could also *cough cough* donate the 500Y to TLUG.
That's fine with me. Let's do this then - I'll give it to CS, and if he decides that it really is indeed worth Y500, then he can donate it to TLUG when he gets a chance? This is probably better, as I hardly ever have time to show up for technical meetings, etc.
