No, this is Ubuntu we are talking about. The whole idea of their setup 
is that the user doesn't really need to know and the "update everything" 
button should update your system without breaking anything ... just as 
what should be the case when you say "apt-get update" in a stable debian 
 distro : it is not allowed to break anything.
