I've been looking around on the net trying to see if there are other 
ways to diagnose what the problem with my printer is.

I came across the "lpinfo -v" command, which gave me the following output:

dave@example.com:~$ lpinfo -v

direct hp:/no_device_found

network ipp

direct canon:/dev/lp0

Does the fact that it says "direct hp:/no_device_found" give any 
indication of a problem?
