- Subject: [tlug] VOIP in Japan
Returning to an old thread I started last year... one of these days i am going to get to setting up Asterix on my linux box. I bought one of those WinModems that people suggest you have and I have a VOIP # in Canada through Primus (they provided me with some sort of router/voip box which I believe I can extract the correct information.) My question to everyone on this list is how to go about acquiring a Japanese voip # (050 I believe, but I could be wrong) that is not dependant on subscribing to a certain internet provider. I know that YahooBB and a few other services offer a voip phone, but I am looking for somewhere (similar to vonage) where I can just purchase/rent the # and plug it in to my asterix or self-bought voip hardware. Do services such as this exist? I gave a quick look on google for Japan VOIP providers, but many of the hits were for the aforementioned services or VOIP companies that run telephone card services etc. Thanks in advance David
