Thank you. As it turns out it wasn't the Japanese keyboard, it was the fact that it was a wireless Microsoft mouse/keyboard combo. This is a known bug, so once I set scancode e059 to 120, everything was all clear. thakns for the help though. as always, very much appreciated. sincerely, david
