I ask because I fell flat on my face in my previous job when I tried to persuade several Japanese coworkers to try OpenOffice, only to find that the Japanese features were terrible... really terrible. However, that was at least two years ago, if not more, and OpenOffice was not ripe yet. More to the point, can I get full Japanese capabilities in the English version?
