I updated to 1.7.8 yesterday.  No change today.  Something about 
"Ctrl+S" seems to shut down keyboard entry still, requiring Mozilla to 
be shut down and reopened.  Very strange, but I guess I can live with 
saving messages via the bloody drop-down menu.
