Knopix is geared towards attempting to be the ultimate isolinux, with live CD's that are geared towards most applications. Ubuntu is geared towards being Linux for everyone. Both have their own communities, as well as a degree of acceptance in the debian community. :) Both have the advantage of some derivative of apt-get or a similar interface so that you can totaly update your system in a matter of hours if you have broadband.^_^
