After such a detailed and interesting analysis, I don't think you are
very convincing when you tell me not to use the "Dr." title. :) You
have a doctorate in Economics, right? My question pertained
specifically to Economics. Now, had you decided to sic a "half-trained
grad student" on the question, I would have let you off the hook.
Seriously though, thank you very much for what was some very
interesting reading. I think one of the reasons I am so anti-DRM is
because I feel that it is abused more than it is used to actually
solve any problems.
I *like* some of the possibilities you enumerated in your post. I
could see DRM being an effective tool for a richer market of services.
(I also like Patrick's idea, about lower-quality media being available
for a lesser price--then I could satisfy my cravings for crappy,
throw-away pop tunes without spending more money than said tunes are
worth.)
You gave me plenty to think about!
Cheers,
