Something just occurred to me - when I last set up a computer with SuSE
9.1, I selected Mozilla and there were a lot of component parts -
including different language packs. I selected the one for Japanese,
and it's working fine. I'm not sure if that's only for the menus (I'm
not even sure the menus are in Japanese - it's not my own computer -
I'll have to check how it looks), but in any case, reading and writing
Japanese is no problem with it.
That said, I've got a folder with a lot of advice from different people
on how to get a machine I set up in English to work in Japanese... just
awaiting the time to methodically go through it and sort things out. In
the meantime, I still use two different computers for English and
Japanese. (I know, I know, a very sloppy way of doing it, but it works
- thanks to a KVM switch!).
