I've never used gftp. It must be a GUI thing since it requires GTK+
(according to the website). ncftp is _the_ alternative, in my
opinion. It supports `ls -l', recursive operations, and remembers your
destination host/directory/password if you tell it so.

Startup command? Just `ncftp'.
